Tanya – Eight Early Editions – 1800s
Eight early editions of the book Likutei Amarim – Tanya, by Rebbe Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the Alter Rebbe.
• Königsberg (Kaliningrad), [1827 or 1848]. Printed in Prussia during the persecution of presses for Chabad Chassidim in Russia.
• Jassy: Nata Wasserman and his brother-in-law Yisrael son of Yaakov Segal, 1843. Copy missing first 6 leaves (including title page, introductions and approbations).
• “Vienna” [Warsaw, after 1856], false imprint for place of publication. Signature on title page. Ownership inscription of R. Yeshayah Schneibalg, dayan in Deyzh and later Rabbi of Bnei Re’em and member of the Machazikei HaDat Beit Din (son-in-law by his first marriage of Rebbe Shalom Eichenstein of Zidichov, whose descendants produced several Chassidic dynasties).
