BALBO ITALO: (1896-1940) Italian Politician, the heir apparent to Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. Balbo served as Minister of the Air Force 1929-33 and did towards popularising aviation in Italy and promoting Italian aviation to the world. Signed commemorative cover issued by the Lakewood Stamp Society of New Jersey and featuring an affixed original sepia photograph of the U.S.S. Macon airship leaving Lakehurst to greet Balbo's air armada over New York City. Postmarked at Lakehurst, New Jersey, 18th July 1933. Signed ('Balbo') by Balbo in dark fountain pen ink with his name alone to a clear area. Accompanied by a typed letter of provenance from the Belham Exchange of Brooklyn, dated 9th May 1966. VG, 2
