Full calf, decorated spine with raised bands.

Majestic edition printed in Lausanne by Francois Le Preux on behalf of Jacques du Puys.

The famous French translation by Jacques Amyot, first published in 1559, is augmented by the Lives of Hannibal and Scipio Africanus translated by Charles de l'Ecluse.

The title is decorated with the device of the Parisian bookseller and the colophon with device of the Lausanne printer Francois Le Preux .

Each chapter opens with image of a medal engraved on wood.

Manuscript note at the bottom of the title.

Label of the bookseller J.-J. Blaise.

Headpieces leveled, minor wear and stains on the bindings, faint water stains on a few leaves, tear without loss on the first two leaves, small loss on the corner of the second, repair in the margin of the last leaf.
