AN INDO-PERSIAN SILVER AND GOLD DAMASCENED STEEL BOX, 19TH CENTURY

An Indo-Persian steel box of damascened steel in silver and gold inlay over its entire surface with intricate geometric and foliate motifs. The interior is lined with a bright red fabric, the bottom part being affixed with the remnants of old labels with cursive handwriting in ink. The original key is still present with this box and the lock is still functional.

India-Persia, 19th century.

Condition: Wear to the surface throughout with some loss to damascene in places. Fabric interior worn throughout and peeling from box in some places. Original key included, lock functional.
