A PRUSSIAN WWI GUARD INFANTRY PICKELHAUBE HELMET
World War I-era German "Pickelhaube", constructed of lacquered black leather, with a brass circular plate at the crown bearing four rivets, topped with a 3 1/2" brass spike. The front bears a brass "wappen", or helmet plate, in the form of a crowned Imperial eagle clutching a scepter and sword with the motto "Mit Gott Fur Koenig Und Vaterland" ("With God for King and Fatherland"), on a banner across the breast, overlaid with a badge in the form of a sunburst with an eagle at the center, surrounded by the motto "Suum Cuique" ("To Each His Own").
An ornamental leather chin strap, covered with overlapping brass plates, runs across the visor, secured by studs also fitted with correct mismatched cockades. Original leather liner.
