A VERY LARGE GREEK SKYPHOS, TERRACOTTA, 4TH-2ND CENTURY BC

A black-glazed Greek skyphos with two handles and a curved bowl, slightly concave on the outside along the edge. The bowl has a thick spreading ring foot on which it stands and two angled, D-shaped handles, one on each side. Inside the bowl is a round red-washed circle off-center from the middle.

Ancient Greece - 4th -2nd century BC.

H: 4 5/8 in., (11.5 cm.); L: 11 1/2 in., (29.2 cm.)


Condition: Good overall. Glaze fading throughout in particular on and around the handles.
