AN AMERICAN CIVIL WAR US NAVY OFICER SWORD W ENGRAVED BLADE
Civil War period Ames M1852 US Naval officer's sword and scabbard. The blade is etched for two-thirds of its length with naval ships on one side and the USN and anchors. The blade is clean with very minor expected signs of wear, with the original buff leather washer. The sharkskin grip and wire wrap are excellent. The original leather scabbard has minor signs of wear to the finish but is in good condition overall.
L: 34 1/2 in., (87.5 cm.)
Condition: Very good overall, all parts are tight. The blade is in excellent condition, the original gilding is partially lost.
