A CENTRAL ASIAN TURKMEN SHAMSHIR SABRE SWORD, 19TH CENTURY.
A rare Central Asian (Turkmen/Northern Afghanistan) Shamshir sword with a typical curved single-edged blade. There are cartouches with the maker's name and Islamic religious inscriptions incrusted with a brass inlay on the blade. The scabbard is covered with black embossed leather overall its entire length. The hilt is made of two carved wood scales, mounts, cross guard and pommel are made of steel.Inscriptions in the cartouches read (partially text of Quran, Sura 61: AS-SAFF, Verse 13):1. نصر من الله - A Victory from Allah;2. عمل كلبعلي خراساني - Made by Kaleb Ali Khorasani;3. وفتح قريب - And eminent Victory./p>

Condition: The sword appears to be in good condition. The scabbard leather is original and shows no sign of restoration. The blade is in its original form. There are minor scratches and signs of wear as expected.
