A GERMAN PRECUSSION SHOTGUN WITH DAMASCUS STEEL BARRELS, 19TH CEN.
Fine german percussion shotgun, 1870-80. Made in Soemmerda, Germany by Franz von Dreyse. The barrels are made of Damascus steel with a beautiful pattern. The barrel rail is made with gold inlay inscribed with "F. von. Dreyse Sömmerda" also made of Damascus steel. Once loaded returning the lever to the original position it replaces the barrels and closes the breach. The steel parts with the exception of the barrel with beautiful, elaborate engraving with floral decor and hunting scenes. The walnut stock is decorated with carvings and an ornate trigger guard. The number 21878 is marked on the back of the butt. Excellent collectible condition.
