DEFENDING THE HOLY TORAH FROM THE ATTACKS OF INFAMOUS MASKIL MORDECHAI FLUNGIYAN Mordechai Flungian, one of the leading maskilim in Vilna (see Kereina Deigresa from the Steipler Vol.1 letter 253) authored a pamphlet called "Talpiot", where he writes that he can disprove Rashi and Tosfos on some matters. Here is a copy of the pamphlet with many numerous notes written by a great Talmid Chacham-seemingly Rav Mattisyahu Shtrashun of Vilna-who sharply and at great legnth attacks Flungiyan's thesis on issue after issue, with fierce criticism. In many instances there is a written response from Flungiyan, which is always met by a sharp rebuttal from the writer. ALL ON THE MARGINS OF THE PAMPHLET. Founder of the well-known Strashun Library” in Vilna, Lithuania. Son of the renowned Talmudic commentator Rabbi Shmuel Strashun – the Rashash. Studied from Rabbi Itzale of Volozhin and Rabbi Menashe of Ilia.
