EICKHORN WWII ARMY OFFICER'S DAGGER
German Eickhorn Army officer dagger in 2nd style with hilt fittings, scabbard, portepee, and hangers. Pommel shows nominal pitting and fine patination with 12 standing oak leaves and acorns. Crossguards features a 2nd style eagle but a missing swastika. Grip is in good condition with only two minor cracks. Scabbard is a 2nd type featuring pebbled panels and scabbard bands with overlapping oakleaves. Blade is in good condition with minor spots of pitting and age marks. Reverse is etched with the 1935 to 1941 Eickhorn squirrel. Silver portepee is in place in the original tie, showing signs of wear and fraying on reverse. Attached to hanger rings are the original hangers showing wear from use and age. Rings show original silvering but mounts have some tarnishing and marked on verso 'D.R.G.M.' Hangers show wear to velvet and oak leaf relief buckles. Blade is 9.75 inches. Dagger is 15.5 inches.
