1681 ADVICE FROM ROME ANTI-CATHOLIC PERIODICAL
Anti-Catholic publication, 'The Weekly Pacquet of advice from Rome: or, The History of Popery. The Fourth Volume', by Henry Care, 1681, number 14, four pages, 7.25 x 5.75 inches. The publication was brought to court and disputed, but eventually Care continued his publications. Henry Care started the publication in response to the Popish Plot of 1678, a fictious plot of alleged assassination plans by Jesuits on King Charles II, which resulted in mass anti-Catholic hysteria and 35 executions. Minor damage on left side.
