FREIKORPS EINWOHNER RESIDENT MILITIA ARMBAND
Blue and white cloth armband for the Civil Guard, or Resident's Militia, of the Freikorps during WWI. The cloth armband has an Einwohner shield sewn onto it. The shield is scratched with the number, '833/26'. The armband has a faint illegible stamp on the front. 7.5 x 3.25 inches. The Einwohner was a paramilitary organization formed during the Weimar Republic in violation of the Treaty of Versailles and was made to defend Germany against Communist uprisings and foreign attacks. It was based in Bavaria, but in June 1921, it was dissolved by the German government under the demands of the Allies.
