EDDA GOERING LIFE-SIZED BRONZE BUST
Life-sized bronze bust of Edda Goering (1938-2018), the only child of Reichsmarschall Hermann Goering by his second marriage to the German actress Emmy Sonnemann, created by Belgian-born artist JULES WERSON. The image of a deer with an arrow in its chest is sculpted a the base of the sculpture, hinting at the connection to Hermann Goring, Reichs Hunting Master. The bust is twice signed 'J. Werson' on the base of the neck and dated '1945' on the mount. Presumed to be the only existing example of this bust by the artist and of Edda Goering. The bronze is 14 inches (35 cm) in height, 19 inches (47.5 cm) including the base. The bust is loosely seated atop a red and white solid marble plinth, not original to the bust but added by a previous owner, sized 5 x 5.5 x 5 inches tall, with a mounting hole. JULES WERSON (1884 -1967) was a Belgian-born sculptor, medalist and graphic artist. After studying in Dusseldorf, Munich, Brussels and Paris, he settled in Gilching/Upper Bavaria, where he died in 1967.
