LETTER FROM KL SACHSENHAUSEN CONCENTRATION CAMP
Letter sent from an inmate at Sachsenhausen concentration camp, Oranienburg bei Berlin, date 8. March 1942. The one page letter was written by a Czech protective inmate (Schutzhaeftling) Vaclav Lochar, prisoner number 14572, Block 48, and sent to his mother in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The letter reads in part: 'Dear mother I send you greeting and kisses...tahnk you for your letter...I always think of you...I haven't seen Icek..he went to Brunn...he had great plans for his life, he wanted to become a bacteriologists. We were good friends. How is Lada?...If you are able to please send aunt Anna the [financial] support...send me a package in April as heavy as possible, 2 kilograms...' The letter bears a censorship stamp. Horizontal fold, 6 x 8.5 inches.
