Publisher of the Austrian State Printing Office, Vienna 1947, 698 pages, 8.5 x 11.5 inches. Guido Schmidt (1901-1957) was an Austrian diplomat and politician, who served as Foreign Minister from 1936 to 1938. On 12 February 1938 Schuschnigg elevated Schmidt to the rank of a Federal Minister, a post he held until 11 March 1938, when the chancellor was forced to resign only hours before the invasion of Wehrmacht troops and the Austrian Anschluss to Nazi Germany. Hermann Goring appointed Schmidt as director of the Hermann Goring Werke in Linz on July 1, 1938. In December 1945, Schmidt was arrested and charged with treason. On June 12, 1947, the trial before the People's Court of Vienna ended with an acquittal. Some wear to cover and spine, softcover, sunned covers, in German.
