Large 19th Century American Eagle Carved Statue
Due to the size/weight/fragility of this item, it will require a pick up or customer-arranged 3rd-party shipping. We will connect you with reputable transport companies after the auction. This is an incredible, carved American eagle that may have adorned a public or important building like a bank. It stands 29.25" tall with each wing measuring 28". It sits on a rock base with two metal rods protruding from the rocks into the bottoms on the claws. The gray painted wood rock base and the brown wood museum pedestal were made by the last owner 20 years ago just for this eagle. The brown wood pedestal is 40" x14" x14" and has developed long hairline cracks on all sides. The eagle is made from pieces for the torso, wings and at least couple of the claw talons. It is painted a very attractive muted brown tone paint scheme with traces of gold, silver, and red under the top layers. In spite of the underlying paint colors, none of the paint appears thick with any kind of layering. If there is one repair, it may be the left wing tip. See photos.
