Civil War Union M-1840 Artillery Sword-Ames #ed
This sword is marked on front of hilt and base of ricasso are numbered 224. Blade is marked US, JSW, 1865. The other side has full Ames scroll logo. This sword has Ames scroll logo made and dated 1865. Blade is 32" and overall length is 39.25". Blade is shows past cleaning. Blade tip is good and blade has come chips that have been polished down. The leather wrap in very good condition with very minor loss and wire wrap is tight. Handle and crossguard are tight and show much age and wear. Scabbard with area of old sticker residue and is down to mostly bare metal. Scabbard has no dings or dents and drag is has number "295" stamped on it. Solid Civil War example.
