This group is from USAAF First Lt. Robert R. Kranz from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He flew P-47 Thunderbolts with 512th Fighter Squadron of the 9th Air Force. He had one Distinguished Flying Cross, Air medal with 11 oak leaf clusters and unit citation. This grouping includes 1) his four pocket uniform made for him by Chicago uniform company. The interior pocket tag is named and dated Dec. 28th 1943. The wings are unmarked clutchbacks with smooth clutches and appear to be sterling. The 9th AF patch is felt British made. His trousers and khaki belt are EM style but have been custom upgraded for comfort. 2) His visor cap is missing eagle and is Knox company maker marked and has partial serial number and size 6 7/8 under headband. 3) Officer's overseas cap, 4) three patches with 9th AF, AF patch and extra wing shaped blue felt patch. 5) VFW Overseas cap. 6) 1945 New Civil Air regulations soft cover, 7) Air Cadet school book from November 1943 with his picture in book and separate photo of him. 8) Pilot's Information File 9) Unit History from end of war "Over seas with the 512th Fighter Squadron" soft cover. 10) 1981 published Unit History, hard bound with Lt. Kranz mentioned throughout. 11) WWII Air Medal in Case, 12) Post WWII Distinguished Flying Cross in case 13) Kranz's original USAAF "Crusher" visor hat, 14) Framed picture with his future wife and 15) black drawstring back with the rifle shells from his funeral salute and 16.) 6 postcards and photos of him in his A-2 jacket and 4 pages of Discharge, Service Record and more. This is a fine WWII pilot grouping from the greater Midwest.
