Antique 16 Patch Quilt Finished c1950
This antique 16 Patch quilt top appears to be from c1890. Is was finished in the 1950s with an added border, backing and large big stitch quilting. It measures 75 by 78 inches. Comprised of 64 blocks, 7 by 7 inches, set straight, 8 by 8, with a 2.5 inch red print inner border, and a 8.5 inch 1950s pink print outer border. It is machine pieced and hand quilted. There does not appear to be any batting, but there is a 1950s print fabric on the back. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front, and applied by machine. It is in good condition with a few small spots and a fade line discoloration. This quilt is part of the Estate of widely respected Sharon Stark of Sharon's Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles of Eastern PA. She was an author and long time collector and dealer of antique quilts, fabrics and textiles. Sharon was THE authority on Feedsacks, and you may remember her Rickrack website.
