Antique c1900 Water Wheel Quilt in an indigo blue print and white fabric, measures 72 inches by 87 inches. Comprised of 42 waterwheel blocks, 8.5 by 8.5 inches, set on point, 6 by 7, with solid white alternating squares and setting triangles. There is a blue indigo print border, 2.25 inches wide. It is machine pieced and hand quilted. There is an off white cotton reverse and thin cotton batting. The edge is finished with the indigo print binding applied by machine to front and hand to back. It is in fair condition with overall toning in the quilting lines, which may have been from the method used to marked the quilt. Also other small spots. This quilt is part of the Estate of widely respected Sharon Stark of Sharon's Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles of Eastern PA. She was an author and long time collector and dealer of antique quilts, fabrics and textiles. Sharon was THE authority on Feedsacks, and you may remember her Rickrack website.
