Rare 1852 French Antique Textile Sample Book. Large cloth covered record book measuring 17.5 inches high by 11.5 inches wide and 3 inches thick. Book is marked "A Ane 1852" on spine, inside cover reads "Registres Perfectionnes, Gerard A Paris." Book contains 75 pages, covered on both sides with over 700 cotton fabric swatches, mostly madders with several Prussian blues and greens, average swatch size is 6 x 9 inches. French record book kept by either a textile mill or textile supply firm to show seasonal production of fashion prints. Swatches are in good condition, there are a few empty spaces on pages where sample is missing, paper is foxing, book covers are in fair condition.
