An iconic limited edition lithograph titled "The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus" by Salvador Dali. Signed in pencil on the bottom right with an annotation of 191/300 on the bottom left. As a devout Roman Catholic, Dali portrayed Columbus as a Christian savior, bringing the true church and salvation to the new world. Dali includes himself in the piece as a monk. The original painting is in the permanent collection of the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg Florida. Dimensions: 35w x 1.25d x 44.5h (framed). Disclosure: While this item has been professionally cleaned, it has been curated from a smoker's estate. Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was a Spanish painter who was one of the most influential and celebrated artists of the 20th century. Known as one of the founders of the Surrealism movement, he became an artistic icon. His work today can be found in countless museums, galleries, and institutions across the world, and his impact on the modern artworld will be remembered for generations to come.Provenance: This item was curated from the estate of Kenneth Robert Stanley (1957-2022) who was a Detroit musician, world traveler, and collector. Per Rick Manore, co-founder of CPOP Gallery, "Ken was a postal worker for over 30 years, Ken's career afforded him the ability to buy and collect art. His apartment was like a small museum of both famous and up-and-coming artists' work. Ken especially collected Detroit artists, many of whom would become household names. Works by Glenn Barr and Niagara would share walls with Mark Ryden and Roy Lichtenstein. His collection of pristine vinyl records and Rock ephemera was eclectic and focused. Ken's book collection was also tuned to his Post-Postmodern taste. This auction is about more than just great art - it is a testimonial to the love and passion for art and music by Kenneth Robert Stanley."
