WWII Womens Named WASP A-2 Pilot Jacket & Disney Patch Womens Service Pilot
Original WWII A-2 leather jacket attributed to noted Womens Army Service Pilot Joanne Wallace Orr, the former first lady of Indiana. The consignor noted that this jacket was purchased directly from Wallace Orr many years ago prior to her death. The jacket features a hand painted patch of the 318th Flying Training Detachment in Texas, and comes with a 1990 dated Disney Archives letter about the patch, as well as printed biography of Wallace Orr. Also, a photo of Wallace Orr when she was a graduate at the AAF Training Command at Avenger Field, Texas (stamped on the reverse). The jacket size tag is a 38 (large for the era, but the consignor noted that Orr was a large woman when he met her). Leather on the jacket is faded from age, and the cuffs and waistband were replaced post war. Extremely rare opportunity to obtain a real WASP jacket sourced right from the veteran.
