Epic poem, translated into prose, by an author, born in Zurich (1730-1788), who in addition to being a writer was a printer, editor, painter and engraver. His literary style is typical of the Rococo period. A notable edition for being one of the first books with prints printed in colour, etching engraved and dotted by Colibert, Casenave and Clement, according to originals by Nicolas André Monsiau (1754-1837), one of the pioneers of colour engraving. Illustrated edition with a frontispiece (author's bust) and an engraving in each of the five corners. Copy with slight foxing and very slight stain (tidal) on the lower margin of about 30 leaves and three engravings. Good full sheepskin contemporary binding, with light handling, gold ornamental borders on the covers (flowers on the corners), panels closed on the spine and rolls on the squares. It retains the original marbled paper of the endpapers. Brunet, II, col. 1568. Cohen, col. 235.
