Fine Early 1840s Washington Co. Monkey/Harvest Jug in Half Gallon size. This important example has the highly sought after Monkey or Harvest Field Jug and is early 1840s and is in gem mint ten condition. The jug has the classic two spouts and a strap handle over the top with a finial which is seen on early examples. The piece has the clay body of Washington County Georgia and is also compared off a signed LJ grave marker and both share the same clay body. The jug is truly one of a kind example and being in such outstanding form this is a top shelf example. Truly museum quality piece, and more than likely is a slave made (African American) example of fine quality. Condition as said a true Mint example, No chips, cracks or repairs. A must for any museum or southern - stoneware collector. Fresh example out of a Athens private collection. Standing 9 3/4" Tall
