"Tronie of Bearded Man" Jan van de Venne (17th c)
"Tronie of a Bearded Man" attributed to Flemish artist Jan van de Venne (1592-1651). Oil on Panel. c. 1640-1650. Purchased Dec. 2015 from Dorotheum auctions. A tronie is a type of work common in Dutch Golden Age painting and Flemish Baroque painting that depicts an exaggerated or characteristic facial expression. Framed size: 20.5" x 18.5". Sight size: 10" x 8.5". Excellent overall. In-house shipping available. Pickup is Monday, July 31st from 11am to 4pm in Carroll, Ohio 43112 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
