1st Edition 1607 Wiltshire May by Kip & Saxton
Wiltoniae Comiatus herbida Planicic nobilis vulgo willshire pars olim Belgarvm. From William Camden's great Renaissance work 'Britannia' which was originally published in Latin, in 1586 with only a general map, providing a historical and topographical study of Great Britain. This hand colored map is a 1607 version was based off of Christopher Saxton's surveys and engraved by William Kip. You can see the Latin text on the verso, making it the 1607 edition. The map is in good condition with some yellowing around the edges, some minor loss to the paper at some points on the very edge. Has been professionally backed on what appears to be acid free paper and mounted to the board. The mounting has come loose at the bottom left corner but has not affected the map in any way. Is framed - the frame measures approx. 19" tall x 21" wide. All invoices must be paid within 24 hours of the sale. All items are shipped USPS or UPS and will be billed separately. A $12 handling fee is added to the shipping price per lot if shipped in house. Some items or large quantity of purchases will be packed and shipped via the UPS store. Local pickups are at our South Brunswick location on Friday, Saturday and Monday ONLY! All pickups are by appointment only. Any condition issues will be listed in the description. Please read the terms for full information.
