Sophie Matisse was born in Boston, Massachusetts, 1965. She began her studies at the Massachusetts Collage of Art in Boston and later, continued her studies at L€™Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Shortly after settling in New York City, in 1996, she began her first series of paintings, Be back in 5 minutes and has participated in many national and international exhibitions ever since.
Media coverage is often quick to note Sophie€™s family background; an art pedigree originating with her great grandfather, Henri Matisse. Britain€™s Sunday Telegraph once referred to Sophie as €?Art Royalty€?, a term occasionally paraphrased when discussing this artist and her work
