נולד בהנאו בשנת תמ"ז , נפטר בהנובר בר"ה תק"ז , את ספרו זה כתב והדפיס בהיותו בן עשרים כפי שכתב בהקדמתו לצוהר התיבה ) וזכה להסכמות חשובות מהם רבי נפתלי כ"ץ אב"ד פפד"מ , המהרשש"ך ובעל שב יעקב .
אולם אחר שנדפס הספר נוכחו לדעת שבספרו זה החציף מאוד נגד הראשונים והאחרונים וכמעט נידוהו על כך, ולבסוף הוחלט שיפרסם דף ובו התנצלות ובקשת מחילה מכל החכמים שפגע בכבודם.

לימים הדפיס רש"ז סידור תפלה בשם "שערי תפלה" וכנגדו יצא היעב"ץ במלחמה חריפה בספרו "לוח ארש" ואף טען שהסכמת החכם צבי זויפה ע"י רז"ה ( ראה שם ) .
