The Book of Commentaries on the Zohar are articles that the Middle Admo"r Rebbe heard every Shabbat from his father the Baal HaTanya
The Middle Admo"r Rebbe wrote down the things in his own style and occasionally added comments on the sources that his father brought. Most of all the things were in the views that his father the Baal Hatanya had.
Due to the nature of the composition, the book is sometimes attributed to the middle rebbe, and sometimes to the elder rebbe of the Tanya.
