Shada''r letter from the Bukovina Kolel in Sefad & Tiberias for travel to the USA. Signed by the Gaonim Rabbi Avraham Leib Zilberman & Rabbi Moshe Kliers. 1923.

Interesting Shda''r letter appointing R. Shneur Zalman Grossman & R. Moshe Brizel as sole representatives to oversee all the funds coming from the USA on behalf of the Bukovina Kolells in Sefad & Tiberius.

1923.

Signed by 30 of the Gabaim & administrators of the Bukovina Kollels in Sefad & Tiberius. Including several of the famous Geiger family. 4 nice handstamps.

Writing & signatures underneath by the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Leib Zilberman the Chief Rabbi of Safed & the Gaon &  Rabbi Moshe Kliers (1874-1934)  Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Tiberius.

29.5 Cm. Layed on paper for preservation.

The Gaon Rabbi Avraham Leib Zilberman (1889-1948) was the Chief Rabbi of Safed for 30 years, grandson of Rabbi Refael Zilberman, who served as Chief Rabbi of the Ashkenazim of Safed as well. He continued his family tradition of serving as the delegates of Admorei Boyan to light the bonfire at Rashbi’s grave on Lag BaOmer.

The Gaon & Chassid Rabbi Moshe Kliers (1874-1934) was the  Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Tiberius. He married the daughter of Rabbi Yehuda Leib Kostlitz, a Slonim Chassid, and became a Slonim Chassid himself. In 1900, he established the Or Torah yeshiva near the grave of Rabbi Meir Ba'al Hanes and headed it until his passing. One of his sons, Chaim Elisha, was murdered during the 1929 Palestine Riots.

He was revered by his contemporaries, participated in the journey to the moshavot with Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld and Rav Kook in 1914 and was offered to succeed Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld as Gaon Av Beit Din of the Eida Hachareidit, but the appointment didn’t come to pass in the end. He acted firmly against the National Council and the constant attempts of the Zionist circles to gain control over the Jews of Eretz Yisroel.

In 1933, he became sick and sent a letter to Rabbi Asher Ze'ev Werner, who was then in the USA, asking him to come to Tiberius to replace him as the Rav of the town. He passed away in Shevat 1934. Author of Tabur HaAretz, Torat HaAretz, and Moreshet Moshe

About the Shadar R.Shneur Zalman Grossman we find:

The Hasidic Rabbi Moshe Shneur Zalman Grossman, may his memory be a blessing, was one of the iconic figures of the glory of Jerusalem. He used to stay up all night on Friday nights, and on Shabbat day he would sleep a little. But on Shabbos nights, he would awaken and spend the entire night engrossed in Torah study and singing praises to the Almighty. At around 2 am, people could hear his pleasant voice emanating from the windows of the synagogue as he recited the "Nishmat" prayer with a special melody. His rendition of the prayer was so melodious that passers-by who did not know him or the source of the sound thought that they were hearing the singing of angels.
