Letter by the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Bloch, Rosh Yeshivas Telz. 1930
Letter-Circular passionately appealing for urgent help to rescue the Telz Yeshiva that he headed. Original signature in his holy hand.
The Gaon Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Bloch (1890-1941) was third generation of Telz rashei yeshiva – he was the son of the "Shiurei Da'at" Rabbi Yosef Leib Bloch, and grandson of Rabbi Eliezer Gordon, the yeshiva's founder. Since his youth, he was known as a prodigy of great talent, with true "Telz" depth. At the age of 30 [!], in 1921, he was appointed Rosh Yeshiva – while his father was yet alive. When his father died in 1930, he was also appointed as Rabbi of the city. When the Nazis conquered Lithuania in 1941, he was killed together with hundreds of the yeshiva's students, and most of his family and community. Hy''d.
Some of his novellae were published in the book "Chidushei Rabeinu Hagrai MiTelz".
Wrinkles, stain, various writings on reverse.
