RUSSIAN ICON KAZAN MOTHER OF GOD IN SILVER OKLAD
A Russian Orthodox icon of Kazan Mother of God. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Gilt silver riza or oklad with repousse decor and turquoise green cabochons. Hallmark of 84 silver standard and makers marks are on the side of the riza. There is a suspension on the backside. Mother of God of Kazan icon is known as the Holy Protectress of Russia. Collectible Russian Silverware, Orthodox Christian Religious Items.
