ABSTRACT AMERICAN OIL PAINTING BY ALDEN MASON
Alden C. Mason, American, 1919 to 2013, oil painting on canvas, One Emotion, depicting an Abstract composition, 1989. Signed, titled, and dated, on the backside. Framed. Alden Lee Mason, was an American painter from Washington known for creating abstract and figurative artwork. Mason traveled abroad to experience exotic flora and fauna. Masons travels took him abroad to many different countries. Travels to South and Central America translated directly into his large Squeeze Bottle paintings of 1978 to 1980s. Stylized South American mola and brilliantly colored Huichol Indian yarn paintings from Mexico were later reinterpreted in paint. Roaming the earth to mostly indigenous cultures let Mason see elements of the world to record later in paintings as an extended, personal, travel journal. His painting are held in a number of public collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Seattle Art Museum, the Portland Art Museum, and the Milwaukee Art Museum. One of a kind artwork.
