PRE COLUMBIAN COLIMA POTTERY VESSEL ARMADILLO
An ancient Pre Columbian Colima pottery funerary vessel featuring an armadillo. The Armadillo is red with a shell with a geometric pattern, above which rises the wide neck of the vessel. The animal has a bizarre pose and resting its head on its paws. Such vessels were used in funeral rites, due to the fact that many Mesoamerican civilizations associated the nocturnal lifestyle of armadillos with the afterlife.
