Katsushika Hokusai, Japanese, 1760 to 1849, an antique Edo period ukiyo e color woodblock print on Kozo paper, depicting a scene with horses on the river from the Gafu Album. Published by Eirakuya Toshiro and Izumiya Ichibe. Circa: late 18th century. Katsushika Hokusai, known simply as Hokusai, was a Japanese ukiyo e artist of the Edo period, active as a painter and printmaker. He is best known for the woodblock print series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, which includes the iconic print The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
