ANTIQUE JAPAN MEIJI ERA MILITARY WOODBLOCK PRINT
An original Japanese Meiji era Ukiyo-e military woodblock triptych, Triumphant Return of Japanese Army depicting Major General Oshima and Lieutenant Colonel Fukushima by an unknown Ukiyo-e artist. Published by Morimoto Junzaburo circa 1894. Battle triptychs were produced in large numbers during the Sino-Japanese (1894 - 1895) and Russo-Japanese wars (1904 - 1905). Such prints idealized the heroism of Japanese troops risking their lives for the emperor. Japanese Ukiyo E Woodblock Prints, Asian Artworks For Wall Decor.
