An antique bronze sculpture of Oleg, known as Oleg the Wise, Oleg of Novgorod, or Oleg of Kiev, a Varangian prince of the Rus who became the first prince of Kiev, thereby laying the foundations of the Kievan Rus state. Depicted touching his horses skull with his boot while a snake slithering from the skull to bite him. Inscribed on a relief decorated base. Circa the early 20th century.
