MADONNA OIL PAINTING AFTER HERMANN VON KAULBACH
An antique oil on board painting depicting Madonna with a child after Hermann von Kaulbach, German, 1846 to 1909. Circa the early 20th century. Housed in an old wooden painting with a metal plaque inscribed: Maria - Zell. Note: Hermann Kaulbach was a German painter famed for his academic genre and history paintings. He painted historic figures with a high level of realistic detail, including Mozart and Bach. Kaulbach studied under Karl Theodor von Piloty at the Munich Academy. Today, Kaulbachs works can be found in the collections of the Museum at Wiesbaden, the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, and the Municipal Gallery in Riga, among others. One of a kind artwork.
