GERMAN WWII SS HONOR DAGGER BY EICKHORN. SOLINGEN
A World War II Nazi German SS Ehrendolch, or honor dagger. The stainless steel blade is garnished with etching, the motto Meine Ehre Heisst Treue, Loyalty is My Honour, on the recto side, inscription In herzlicher Kameradschaft H. Himmler, In Warm Camaraderie H. Himmler, on the verso side. Black ebony grip and scabbard have nickel-plated fittings and Nazi Party symbols. There is a suspension ring on the scabbard. Hallmark Carl Eickhorn Solingen is on the verso side of the blade. The SS Ehrendolch was considered an honour weapon of the SS Schutzstaffel. The design was based on the 16th century Swiss dagger. It was an official sidearm of the SS-dress uniform used by all full members of the SS. These honour daggers were produced from 1933 until 1940.
