ANTIQUE RUSSIAN ICON MOTHER OF GOD WITH SAINTS
An early 20th-century Russian Orthodox icon representing Our Lady of the Softening of Evil Hearts surrounded by saint Antipa, Domian, Cosmas, Paisius and Guardian angel. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Softening of Evil Hearts is an icon of the Mother of God which symolizes the prophecy of St. Simeon, Virgin Mary is depicted with seven swords stuck in her heart referring to the seven years of her suffering on Earth.
