ANTIQUE RUSSIAN ICON ST ALEXANDER IN SILVER OKLAD
An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon of Saint Alexander of Jerusalem, a 3rd-century Christian bishop and martyr. Travel icon of miniature size. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Gilt silver riza or oklad with repousse decor. Hallmark of 84 silver standard and makers marks are on the halo of the saint. The backside of the icon is covered with purple velvet. Russian Christian Religious Items and Collectibles.
