A World War II Knights Cross of the Iron Cross, or Ritterkreuz, the highest award in the military forces of Nazi Germany instituted in September 1939. Cast iron cross of patte shape with embossed swastika and date 1939 on the front and date 1813 on the backside referring to the institution of the original Prussian award.
