RUSSIAN WATERCOLOR PAINTING BY ALEXANDRE BENOIS
Alexandre Benois, Russian, 1870-1960, a watercolor on paper landscape painting depicting a view of the Versailles park. Signed by the artist and dated 1926 24 X, on the lower right. Provenance: Osenat, June 13, 2021, lot 231. Alexandre Nikolayevich Benois was a Russian artist, art critic, historian, preservationist and founding member of Mir iskusstva (World of Art), an art movement and magazine. As a designer for the Ballets Russes under Sergei Diaghilev, Benois exerted what is considered a seminal influence on modern ballet and stage design. One of a kind artwork. Collectible Russian Fine Art.
