ANTIQUE STEEL ENGRAVINGS AFTER THUMANN AND GERARD
A lot of two antique late 19th-century steel-plate engravings, reproductions of popular works of art by Gebbie and Husson Co. Ltd., a British photogravure workshop which was most prominent in the 1880-1890s. First. The Fates of Moira or The Three Fates, date unknown, by Friedrich Paul Thumann, 1834 to 1908, a German illustrator. Now in the National Gallery in Berlin. Second. Madame Recamier, 1805, by Francois Gerard, 1770 to 1837, a French artist. Now in Musee Carnavalet in Paris. Both prints are signed and titled on the bottom. White mat, black frames.
