HUNTING GODDESS DIANA BRONZE FIGURE AFTER GERHARD
Antique bronze figure, Diana Goddess of Nature and Hunting, Image of Bavaria, after the original statue of Tellus Bavarica, Bavarian Diana, by Hubert Gerhard, pre-1589, on the Hofgarten Temple in the historic district of Altstadt Lehel, Munich, Bavaria. Hubert Gerhard, 1540 1550 to 1620, was a sculptor of Flemish origin. The most famous creations of Gerhard adorn the lands of Germany. The sculpture is located in the Hofgarten park in Munich on the dome of the roof of the temple of Diana in honor of the Greek goddess of the hunt Artemis. And it incorporates the attributes of nature characteristic of Bavaria, namely: a vat for pickling, and a deerskin.
