Antique Amulet Case, Silver, Italy
Amulet case decorated with details of the Tools of the Temple and with a priestly mitre.
Italy.
Cast, hammered, drilled and welded silver.
These cases were called "Shaddai", and used be hung over the baby's cradle, serving as containers for storing parchment amulets written for the child to protect him from sorcery and demons.
Length: 14 cm.
Weight: 116 grams.
Very good condition, age marks.
