Chest with inscription ‘María Fernández’
A 17th century chest made of carved wood, metal, textile and remains of polychromy. Possibly made in Salamanca (Spain) or its area of influence. Rectangular body with a flat lid made of carved wood with remains of original polychromy, corner pieces and other metal fittings and textile details. It is decorated on the outside with a moulding on the lower part with curved motifs and a simple carved vegetal decoration with an inscription in capital letters on the front (‘Viva María / Fernandez’) in reference to its owner. Exposed wood on the inside, without decoration.
