Antique Fay Lewis & Bros. Co. Fay's Twelve Temptations Wooden Cigar Box with 1901 Tax Stamp - This antique wooden cigar box was produced by Fay Lewis & Bros. Co. for Fay's Twelve Temptations cigars. The box is constructed of wood and is adorned with various chromolithograph paper labels. The interior lid features a detailed and colorful chromolithograph titled Fay's Twelve Temptations, centered on a portrait of a woman wearing a floral headband and pearl necklace, flanked by purple flowers and gold medallions. The interior base of the box is stamped in red ink with Fay Lewis & Bros. Co. All Havana Hand Made. The exterior lid features a circular label for Fay Havana 12 Temptations and a U.S. Internal Revenue tax stamp for twenty-five cigars, marked Series of 1901 and Act of March 2, 1901. The front panel displays a label for Havana Perfectos, identifying the production as Factory No. 492, 3rd Dist. N.Y. 12, bordered by decorative Hand Made tape. A second partial tax stamp on the front panel displays a portrait of William McKinley. The box is secured with a small metal clasp on the front.
